St Paul’s in Worthing proved a hit with the youngsters last Saturday as 150 children enjoyed free taster sessions and sampled what’s on offer at the Chapel Road centre.

Young visitors left eager to return for more fun after getting hands on with mini projects hosted by a range of clubs – from the Kid’s Cooking Club through to the Musical Theatre Group.  All children were treated to a free gift, as well getting the chance to unwind with a story or join in with the magic show.

As well as exciting kids’ clubs and running the café, Lime at St Paul’s also offers a diverse events programme for adults. Weekly groups range from a free interactive poetry workshop, The Worthing Wordsmiths, to Flamenco lessons and Kung Fu classes.

The Monthly Marvels programme has been enticing Worthing’s residents to the centre to enjoy regular Jazz nights, book clubs, “Mumpreneur” networking days for working mothers and their offspring, plus lots more.

The centre also staged a one-off programme, featuring a Big Band Swing Band, a chocolate and pamper night and Arts and Crafts show – kicking off a year-long programme of inspiring big events.

Kathryn Seal of Lime Food Design, who run Lime at St Paul’s, is thrilled with the response to the events programme. “It’s great to see this beautiful building being enjoyed by so many different people. St Paul’s is really proving to be a unique, accessible meeting place for local people and businesses, which will hopefully continue to grow and respond to the needs of the community.”

The building, once an unsafe, unused church, has been transformed by a recent £1.2m makeover. The spacious interior often surprises visitors with its sheer size and modern, airy features, which include specially designed ‘pods’ – costing just £20 an hour to hire.
